May 17th — Empty Bowls — Hunger relief event

Join us to raise funds and awareness for hunger relief in the Haliburton Highlands. Haliburton potters and many helping hands are creating between 150 and 200 bowls for you to choose from. So - what are we serving up in these bowls? Melissa Stephens’ grade 10 and 11 Hospitality and Tourism classes will be planning, preparing and filling your one-of-a-kind, handcrafted bowls with a selection of tasty soups & stews, accompanied by home-made breads and topped off with sweets. At the end of the evening, you take your bowl home as a symbolic reminder that there are always Empty Bowls in the world, and also a reminder of your contribution to the cause. Doors open at 6:00pm and bowl selection will begin around 6:20pm. Tickets are $50 and are available at the following locations after April 14: The York Street Internet Cafe, Rail’s End Gallery, Storeroom Natural Foods and Agnes Jamieson Gallery.
