Wildlife abound

Seeing animals in the wild never ceases to amaze and delight me…I simply never seem to tire of the sightings. Yesterday I was driving over the bridge on highway 21 just to the west of our road and saw three deer standing on the ice of the lake. It was a beautiful, sunny day and they appeared to just be hanging about enjoying the sunshine. As I walked around the property this morning, with a 2 cm fresh layer of snow, I sited many animal prints in the snow. I’m not very good at figuring out what kind of wildlife made them but, it was obvious that we had some visitors during the night. Some were deer tracks going across the property near the back but, other tracks were from smaller animals. All in all it was a beautiful morning to take a walk in the country and enjoy nature. The tree branches were hanging, heavy with new fallen snow and the lake was covered in a mist of snow that was still falling. We’re expecting more snow for the weekend … so, it should be a good weekend to come on up and enjoy the winter activities while conditions are just right!!
