Timberfest — lumberjack contest

Come on up and stay at Willow Beach Cottages for the amazing Timberfest event (www.willowbeach.com) . The 16th Annual Timberfest Championships will once again be happening at the Minden Fairgrounds on June 14, 2008. International competitors as well as US and Canada will be participating in a variety of challenging events. There will be partner events such as 2-woman and 2-man crosscut as well as a Jack and Jill crosscut. Axes will highlight events such as underhand chop, standing block chop and springboard chop. Chainsaws will be loud and clear as the participants compete in the various sized chainsaw events. The ever-popular pole climb will also be featured. The organizers are hoping to have several wood carvers displaying their work and demonstrating their talents. Several vendors have committed to the event to help create a fair-like atmosphere to the day. A BBQ dinner will be held at the end of the day by the Minden Fair Board in conjunction with Timberfest.
