Mother nature has made it very difficult to get the skating rink up and running this year. First there was so much snow it insulated the ice layer and made the whole lake slushy …. impossible to get down to the ice layer and make the skating rink. Then, it got mild, rained for two days and took away much of the snow but, there were layers of ice that were not safe to stand on. Finally, with temperatures of -27 overnight on New Year’s Eve the lake froze solid with just a small layer of snow on top. We have now been able to clear the snow and flood the rink a couple of times and we’re good to go with respect to skating. There is nothing better than skating on the rink on the lake on a clear starlit night! Hard to describe the awe inspiring experience …. why not come on up and try it out for yourself. www.willowbeach.com
